St. Croix County groundwater contamination information If you help buy or sell homes in St. Croix County, it’s important that you know about some sites where groundwater contamination by Volatile Organic Chemicals (VOCs) may require home filtration systems. Many properties affected by the groundwater contamination identified in St. Croix County have already been tested. You should discuss with your broker their policies on disclosing such material facts. A recent presentation by a WI DNR representative to the Western Wisconsin Realtors Association informed members that a home test for contamination may be ordered from En Chem, a lab in Green Bay and costs around $125. If contamination is found and a filtration system must be purchased, the initial purchase can be expected to cost around $1,500 with additional annual maintenance from $200 to $400 per year. In some cases, a filtration system maybe partly or fully subsidized by the party identified as responsible for the contamination.
