Ordinary High Water Mark Ruling Released for Lower St. Croix River
Identifying exactly where land ends and the water begins can have real consequences for waterfront property owners. After several years the Wisconsin DNR is releasing its formal determination regarding the ordinary high water mark (OHWM) of the Lower St. Croix River.
Both state and local governments are required to use the OHWM in making decisions about structures in and near public waters, potentially limiting placement of homes and improvements on lots previously thought to be buildable.
Your WWRA participated in this process, arguing for certainty and reasonableness.
